Attention Colorado Springs, Denver and the surrounding areas! As we all know, fall is in full effect and along with that, the weather is about to take a cold turn! With the cold weather on its way, its important to be sure that your house or business is properly acquitted for these coming changes.  While you’re preparing your home for winter, consider providing more insulation in your attic, sealing up doors and windows that are lose, cleaning out your furnaces, wood burning stoves, and  last but not least protect your water pipes! . Winterizing your home may decrease the chances of future problems.

Winterizing your home:

– Consider adding more insulation to your attic. If your attic is poorly insulated the heat will rise and escape. Use fiberglass insulation with paper backing to tack up to winterize your home.

– Caulk cracks around windows and doors to avoid escaping heat. Outside, use water resistant caulk.

-Make sure your rain gutters are clear of leaves and other debris, this can avoid ice blockage.

– Consider wrapping pipes in unheated locations including  such as crawl spaces or in your garage. Use foam insulation, pipe wrap or heat tape.

– Close any outside vents that may let in cold air to your house.
